Who We Are
The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) inspires the joy of lifelong learning by bringing to life the sciences and regional history. Jacksonville’s Museum of Science & History makes science, history and innovation accessible for all! Whatever your age or interest, there’s always something to see and explore across three levels of exciting exhibits. From interactive, award-winning favorites like Currents of Time and Atlantic Tails to the Florida Naturalist’s Center, which houses animals that are native to Northeast Florida, there is something for all ages to discover. Indulge your imagination with a science or live animal show, or explore distant galaxies in one of our planetarium programs. When visiting Northeast Florida’s only science and history museum, there is no limit to what you can discover!
What We Do
The Adult Volunteer program offers volunteer sessions in 4 hours increments. Adult Volunteer applications are accepted on a rolling admission. Past Adult Volunteers have assisted in the Florida Naturalist’s Center, Education, Public Programs & Special Events, Bryan-Gooding Planetarium, Collections, and Guest Relations departments. Adult Volunteers who are interested in becoming Docents must complete a week-long training and practice tours before giving Museum tours independently.
MOSH offers College Internships both for course credit and degree enrichment. Students will receive real-world experience working in a museum setting alongside museum professionals. Total hour commitments vary depending on the requirements of each student’s course, but we require at least 100 hours. The College Internship program accepts applicants on a rolling admission. College Interns must be juniors or seniors in their major fields. Past College Internships offered include: Audiovisual Production, Communications & Marketing, Animal Caretaking, Finance, Community Education, Guest Relations, Technical Services, Marine Biology, Public Programs & Special Events, Natural History Collections, and History Collections.
