Who We Are
Jacksonville Science Festival was established in 2013 to inspire K-12 graders and to promote equity for all learners, traditional and non-traditional, with an intense focus on those without continual opportunity or exposure in the fields of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, AND Mathematics. Following a Project-Based educational model, questions lead to student led projects with teacher and counselor mentorship and local community expert collaboration. Equity and Justice to JSF means bringing to the same table Gifted, Challenged, and Differently Abled learners and providing an environment for them to EQUALLY shine and EQUALLY discover how STEAM careers are withing their reach.
What We Do
All students, teachers, experts, organizations, local businesses and community partners come together to celebrate education with all of the Jacksonville community and surrounding regions. Student driven questions lead to student led projects in collaboration with teachers and local community experts related to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). Booths include interactive STEAM activities, gained knowledge and skills, along with any artifacts that will enhance the experience of the attendee and community. The Jacksonville Science Festival serves as a vehicle for educational equity and justice for K-12 students by providing a city-wide event that promotes student driven STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) projects that use strategic collaboration with teachers, experts in STEAM fields, mentors and local businesses making it a vital force important to our culture, education and the economy.
