What is really being done to address how health-related social needs such as loneliness and food insecurity are affecting seniors in Medicare Advantage? Access HERE: Humana’s YouTube channel
Structure: Caraline Coats, VP, Bold Goal & Population Health Strategy, Bold Goal, Humana, will moderate the 45-minute virtual panel, which will include Philip M. Oravetz, MD, MPH, Chief Population Health Officer, Ochsner Health System; Andrew Parker, Founder and CEO, Papa; and Lucy Theilheimer, Chief Strategy and Impact Officer, Meals on Wheels America.
Description: “The COVID-19 pandemic isolated tens of millions of seniors from their loved ones, exacerbating their medical conditions. Prior to the pandemic, research has shown that there was a 45 percent increased risk of mortality in seniors who report feeling lonely. While government and industry know this is a risk and are taking steps to address it, how can the health care industry better protect the mental health of seniors for whom physical distancing is not going away? What can we do to address how racism and racial inequity are affecting the ability of communities to address health-related social needs? How can government and industry better work together to help improve mental and physical health outcomes? The panel also will explore how the challenges stemming from COVID-19 are creating new partnerships.”
