The Jacksonville Science Festival (JSF) is an annual event that The Foundation Academy participates in to encourage a love of learning in the STEAM subjects: science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Students are expected to devise an open-ended essential question, conduct research, make connections with experts in the community, and have an interactive component at the festival to foster community engagement.
In preparation for this, The Foundation Academy is currently seeking volunteers from our diverse community to ensure our 3-day event is a success! The Jacksonville Science Festival event is scheduled for April 11 & 12 at FSCJ South Campus from 8 am – 3 pm and April 13 at Henry J. Klutho Park from 9 am – 4 pm.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Tour Guide - in this role, you will lead a group of students and their teachers through the festival areas on Thursday and Friday only
- Art Booth - in this role, you will assist with the STEAM Art booths helping visitors create individual and community art projects
- Surveyor - in this role, you will ask visitors to complete an informative survey using a QR Code or on a tablet
- Other - as we prepare for the festival other volunteer roles will be posted
As a volunteer, you will receive a SUPER COOL t-shirt, and be treated to coffee, donuts, and a nice lunch (free lunch Thursday & Friday only). Our team is also here to sign off on any volunteer logs. Please be aware that all jobs will require being outdoors as the festivals are open air events.
