Who We Are

As with other communities across the South, Jacksonville has joined the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) effort to bring people together to learn about and recognize the victims of racial terror lynching's and to have courageous conversations about racial injustice today.

What We Do

Dr. H. James Garrett, a scholar from the University of Georgia, will share his research on the emotional demands of learning and teaching “difficult knowledge.” Dr. Garrett will discuss how the framework of “difficulty knowledge” can help us better understand the different ways in which community members experience learning about our community’s history of lynchings and the accompanying programming being developed through the Jacksonville Community Remembrance Project.
