In celebration of National Poetry Month, Hope at Hand will be hosting poetry events during the month of April to inspire and spark a love for art and language in Jacksonville. Designed to engage the community, the poetry programs of Hope at Hand offer a unique arts and culture experience for Duval County residents. Spoken word performances, poetry slams, youth poetry contests and workshops are a few examples of events that are offered at no cost to the public by our non-profit organization.
Volunteers are needed to assist with decorating public railing
by tying poetry tags throughout James Weldon Johnson Park
on Thursday, April 10 from 1:00-4:00 pm,
in preparation for Poem in Your Pocket Day!
You can earn up to 3 volunteer hours!
Volunteer slots are limited, register today!
Please meet us across the street from the park at:
Chamblin's Uptown Bookstore
215 N Laura St, Jacksonville, FL, United States, 32202
For National Poetry Month, the staff of Hope at Hand will be handing out free poetry cards! Put a Poem in Your Pocket Day serves as a beautiful opportunity to allow the healing power of poetry to spill over into our everyday lives. It allows us to share our favorite poems with people who may otherwise not receive much exposure to poetry. It also reminds us to have a deeper appreciation for the impact that poetry has had on our lives!
