***DUE TO THE RECENT NEWS AND UNCERTAINTY SURROUNDING THE COVID-19 SITUATION, this volunteer opportunity has been CANCELED. Be safe poetry friends! We hope to be back soon!
Do you know how to create Blackout Poetry? If not, are you curious in learning how? Let us show you how!
Every month brings a new opportunity to support Hope at Hand! Please attend our Blackout Poetry workshop to help us keep the poetry alive in North Florida! All materials are provided and no experience is necessary.
3 Simple steps in creating a blackout poem,
- You will be given a random book page torn out of the book and a marker.
- You then cross out 95% of the text and what is left makes a poem!
- You can decorate the remainder of the page as elaborate or as simple as you want.
It's super-fun so come give it a try. No experience necessary and all ages welcome! Just stop by our table on the first Saturday of each month from 1-3 pm at Chamblin's Uptown to get started on your own creative and beautifully poetic journey. We are planning a Blackout Poetry art exhibit in April as part of the Jacksonville Poetry Festival Celebrations so please come create with us and contribute your poem to this exhibit! We really need your help in more poems created!
