Ms. Harvey notes that outdoor theatre requires many volunteers to assist the audience. She adds that during the COVID-19 period, it is critical that the Theatre department have enough volunteers. For the outside production of Much Ado About Nothing, Ms. Harvey has specifically requested the assistance of two student groups—Nursing and Honors—as noted below:
- Nursing students: help take the temperatures of the audience as they arrive for the show.
- We have two thermometers and can possibly obtain more.
- Help check in students using a pre-reservation system list generated via Eventbrite. Possibly also help patrons find their assigned areas (if we have enough people).
All student volunteers will be under staff supervision throughout the event.
Each student will receive about 2.5 hours of service-learning credit per day, more if they desire.
Ms. Harvey does not need the same volunteers each day, and there is no daily maximum of volunteers---she can put everyone to work.
The primary hours of need are 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. on October 24th and 25th. Ms. Harvey has advised that the event is entirely outdoors and within the college’s COVID policies.
Beth Harvey has asked that interested students email her at beth.harvey@fscj.edu through their college email addresses.
