EARN UP TO 4 VOLUNTEER HOURS ON THIS PROJECT!!!

Before You Get Started

Just A Few Requirements:

(Please read the fine print)

• YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY IN ORDER RECEIVE VOLUNTEER TIME.

• PLEASE THOROUGHLY READ BEFORE STARTING THIS OPPORTUNITY!

• DO NOT START WORKING ON OPPORTUNITY UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A WELCOME LETTER WITH CHECKLIST FROM HOPE AT HAND.

• Cut female and male facial parts that are larger than a quarter; smaller cutouts will not allow students to achieve the Picasso collage look.

• Select positive words, affirming words; words that make us feel good, warm, fuzzy, etc.  (Do not select image-flattering words such as beautiful, perfect or pretty)

• Select negative words that challenge our emotions; words that make us feel uncomfortable, cold, uneasy, etc.  (Do not select words that suggests physical violence such as kill, murder or rape)

• Do not submit words that are over 1” in height or computer generated words

• Use regular straight-edged scissors and cut neatly

• Keep images & words flat; do not crease or fold when mailing

• Separate and bundle or package your cut out words into the following categories: Positive Words, Negative Words, Female Facial Parts and Male Facial Parts; see examples in below photos.

• Limit 50 items for each bundled or packaged units

• Earn 1 volunteer hour for every 50 cutouts, sorted and packaged items submitted (maximum volunteer time allowed is 4 hours).

• Do not glue or paste any images or words to paper or cardboard prior to submitting.

• Label packages/bundles with the number of cut items and specific category

• Print the CUTOUT PROJECT COMPLETION/ RETURN CHECKLIST (emailed to you in welcome letter,)

• Complete the CUTOUT PROJECT COMPLETION/ RETURN CHECKLIST and return it with your cutouts

• If seeking volunteer hours for school or company, enter volunteer time on the 'Track Hours' page of your registration account (FSCJ SERVES Student account or United Way account indicating date worked and total volunteer hours requested. We will email you a signed volunteer time log with 2-3 business days of receiving your completed project.

*Please include return address information along with the CUTOUT PROJECT COMPLETION/ RETURN CHECKLIST form so that we can validate submitted items. 

(Failure to follow instructions or process could cause a significant delay in approving or potentially not approving your requested volunteer time)

LET'S GET TO CUTTING!!!  

Sort, Package & Label

Package or bundle your sorted cut out items into units of 50 and place them into baggies.  Write the number of items and the category on the outside of the baggie or on a piece of paper and place it inside the baggie as shown on the below left photo.  For every bundle or unit of 50 words submitted you will receive 1 volunteer hour with a maximum of 4 volunteer hours.  (If baggies are not available, please feel free to be creative in your packaging of the different units; a few ideas are to recycle old envelopes, use a paper clip to hold cut out items together, use old scrap paper and staple the bundle together, etc.
