Volunteer Opportunity
Clothing with Purpose collects new and gently used clothing. Volunteers sort the items by gender, size, type, and season. After they are sorted and boxed accordingly, we distribute them front-line partner agencies in our tri-county area and beyond. Typical recipients are schools, churches, and a variety of other nonprofit agencies that give the clothes directly to those in need.
Donated clothes require daily attention and volunteers are critical to keeping the process moving along smoothly.
This past year, we were instrumental in giving away over 186,000 articles of clothing, most of them new. Much of this success is driven by the volunteers who give their time throughout the year getting clothes ready for distribution.
How to be prepared:
Our space is limited so we prefer no more than 3 people at a time. You’ll need to schedule your time with us so we know when to expect you and are ready for your arrival. (no walk-ins)
Minors over 12 years old are welcome with an accompanying parent or chaperone.
When volunteering, wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. Sometimes volunteers may be asked to lift some boxes. The clothes are sorted, sized, and grouped by gender and season and boxed up. Specific instructions will be given so you’ll know exactly what, where, and how to do the sorting. There is ice and water onsite and a refrigerator/microwave available to use should you like to bring a snack to eat while you’re here.
Typical shifts are 2-3 hour blocks of time Wednesday - Thursday between 9 am – 4 pm.
