Case Coordination - Internship Opportunity (non-paid) - BA degree & higher

Monday – Friday: flexible hours between 9am - 4pm. Minimum 2-hour increments. Individual schedules will be coordinated with the Director of Housing should your application for an internship be approved.

 

Primary Purpose of Internship

As a student studying to work in the human services arena, you are required to complete a certain number of internship hours to receive your degree. You will work with the Director and current case managers in the housing program to fulfill those requirements. The responsibility of the Case Coordinator Intern will be to assist residents in our housing programs. The hours required will be discussed individually with the Director of Housing during the interview process.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

You will be assigned a caseload of a maximum of 20 participants. Your primary role will be to communicate with them throughout the month and work with and support their pathway plan towards independence and document in a confidential manner.

This will include phone calls, occasional home visits, and chart documentation.

Maintain all charts and records according to HUD policies of established standards and/or grant requirements.

Participate in departmental and center-wide quality assurance initiatives.

Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and workshops as deemed appropriate by the Director of Housing.

Represent the Center to the community from time to time as instructed by the Director of Housing.

All other duties as assigned that support the internship requirements for completion.

 

Qualifications: 

Be enrolled in a Bachelor or higher degree program that requires social services internship hours. Casework is completed in Jacksonville, FL.

Written referral on school letterhead from appropriate Professor.

Passion for the work. If you are not in the mind-set of really helping people, this internship opportunity is not a good match for you.

Even-tempered personality - able to work with a variety of staff, volunteers, and community agencies. Professionalism is required. Positively representing the agency in the community is vital.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients, colleagues, agency partners, and volunteers.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.

Ability to manage time and prioritize workload efficiently. If you do not finish the hours as agreed upon, the timesheets will not be signed off on. If you are a no-show more than 2 times during your semester, your participation will be terminated and your professor will be notified.

Ability to write and communicate clearly and professionally.

Required Working conditions:

Due to COVID-19, we are not doing in-person visitation at this time. This position will be in office and virtual. Valid Florida driver’s license and clean driving record are required if you are using your own vehicle.

Able to pass a background check, if necessary. (dependent on partner agency requirements)
