Who We Are
PSM is a faith-based non-profit organization, primarily serving Duval County.
What We Do
PSM has 3 unique programs. 1) Home Safe: a program partially funded through HUD that houses 60 households. The program has served over 300 clients throughout Jacksonville since 2005 by providing safe housing while empowering them with the opportunity to regain control of their lives. We offer case management support & assist them with finding employment or receiving benefits, & when appropriate, direct them to rehabilitation programs.
2) Urban Mission Experience hosts volunteer groups in NE FL. PSM has hosted high school, college & church youth groups from different states willing to donate their time & energies that evolve into community service trips to our city. PSM has also been the destination for AmeriCorps teams in the storm recovery efforts. The impact they are making in our area following Hurricane Irma & other disastrous events is huge. In 2018 alone, we hosted 355 volunteers contributing over 900 hours of volunteer service. PSM provides lodging & food. The dorms sleep 42 & boast full showers, laundry facility & full kitchen including WIFI!
3) Clothing Program. We gather, sort & redistribute clothing to other nonprofit organizations. Over 300K pieces of clothing are collected, sorted, & dispersed annually. We partner with other agencies that serve different populations including prenatal mothers, individuals coming out of prison looking for employment, college men practicing interviewing skills, health fairs, local clothing giveaways & even a direct partnership with the Public Schools to stock a clothing closet that guidance counselors & teachers can access when they see a child in need.
